Co:Here Housing is a mixed-income apartment building designed for community. Co:Here was initiated by Grandview Church, and Salsbury Community Society, and the development was led by Co:Here Foundation. The building sits on Grandview’s former parking lot at the corner of East 1st Avenue and Victoria Drive. Co:Here’s community-centred design drew heavily on the vision of Salsbury Community Society and its extensive history of operating community houses in the Commercial Drive neighbourhood. Potential residents were invited to share what was important for them in a home and internal workshops were held to clarify vision and develop operational plans and budgets. Neighbourhood consultations provided additional recommendations for the design and fit in the area.
